Creating a Mindset of Abundance for Daily Painting

A Rollercoaster of Emotions

The process of creating art is very taxing on our mind and our spirits.. I have felt like I am on a rollercoaster of emotions since I started painting every day back in 2017. Some days I feel like my art is great, other days I feel like it is awful. Some mornings I wake up with pure joy ready to start painting, other days I want to give up and throw away all of my paints!. It is a crazy ride for sure. About a year ago I discovered the idea of an abundant mindset and it totally changed my life and my emotional state when I create my art.

Previously, I used to feel like I was not talented enough, you had to be born with certain talent to be successful. The mindset of abundance changed my perspective and made me a better artist and helped me see the things in my life not to be taken for granted but to be grateful for. It helped me see that opportunities are limitless and there is enough for everyone.

Mindset of Abundance

The mindset of abundance means that you have faith that there is always enough. There will always be enough talent, enough money, jobs, etc to go around. When you see someone attain a goal that you have been wanting to achieve, instead of getting jealous know that good things are on the way and have faith that there is plenty to go around. Be excited and encourage others. There is plenty to go around.

This changed my point of view as artist especially when looking on social media or even working with other talented artists. Instead of envying them, I felt excited for their work and know that by seeing their accomplishments it is actually possible for me to do as well. Supporting and rooting for one another instead of bitter competition feeds abundance’s soul. What you appreciate, appreciates as well. What you focus on will occur. If you focus on lack and what you do not have, that will only increase.

With abundance, I started thinking of everything I was grateful for instead of what I lacked. In the book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron she talks about art being a belief in “sufficient supply.” She talks about God being extravagant and that we are actually the cheapskates thinking there is only so much to go around. In reality there is more than enough.

So next time you feel like you are lacking in an area. Stop and focus on the good and remember that there is always enough to go around. Through showing up to your art every day and working hard, abundance WILL come. You just have to have faith and trust in the process.
