Painting with Acrylics on Location In St. Lucia
Hi friends! It has been a couple of weeks since I wrote on this blog. My husband and I went to St. Lucia to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and our 40th birthdays. We went by ourselves (thanks to my in-laws for watching our kids for a week!) and stayed at Sandal’s La Toc. We had to get a negative Covid test to go there 5 days before our trip and a negative Covid test to come back to the USA. So crazy but so worth it!
How I Pack My Acrylic Paints
Whenever I travel I always bring my acrylic paints. One year we went to Florida and I was worried about traveling with them so I brought water soluble oil pastels and I was super disappointed with them. Now I always make sure to pack my acrylics. This time I put each paint color into small sealed containers. I packed everything in a storage container that looked a lot like a tackle box. I made sure to bring my paint brushes, a couple paper towels and palette paper. I packed all of this in my checked bag. I don’t think you would be able to bring your paints onto the plane on a carry on.
When I got to the hotel I used a water bottle container for my water cup. I was nervous the whole time that I would get acrylic paint somewhere in the nice hotel but I was very careful and had no problems!
The paint containers were bought from Michaels. Here is the link. I loved using these containers because they were easy to transport and really kept my paint from drying out. I brought a small 5 x 7 mixed media sketchbook like this one here
Here are some of my paintings I completed on my trip. I usually worked in the morning right after breakfast to ensure that I would get my daily painting competed.
Painting while traveling is amazing! These paintings are truly my favorite and bring me so much joy to look at. They have also inspired a future series of St. Lucia paintings I hope to complete soon. If you have any questions let me know! Thanks and have a great week:)
