Creating a New Series of Paintings

Creating a new series is an exciting time in an artist’s life. I often paint the same thing multiple times and then all of a sudden it just evolves and I think to myself…”Wow, where did this come from?” That is what is so interesting about art. You never know when the next idea is going to hit you.

This new series came about while I was actually painting a commission for a woman who had bought a painting from me a couple of months prior. The painting had been of trees along the water and it inspired me to investigate this subject matter again.

The scene is from a special moment I had walking around the historic district around the island. I decided to paint numerous trees on different canvases and incorporate sailboats into some of the paintings.

Often while i am walking around the water I see sailboats moored off shore to enjoy a beautiful day on the water. I hope you like this new series! These acrylic paintings are for sale on Dress the Room.

**My inspiration! I took this photograph this past summer while walking around the historic district of the island. In the distance you can see a private island called Sugar Island.**
